About Everyday Archive
Everyday Archive is an independent editorial resource about one specific, unglamorous problem: keeping track of personal and household files, both physical and digital. We publish long-form guides on file organization, document naming, household recordkeeping, and digital maintenance, and we built a free, in-browser tool that helps you sketch out a folder structure suited to your own situation.
What we do
Our guides are written to be read once and then used for years. Rather than chasing the newest app or service, we focus on habits and structures that work regardless of which computer, phone, or cloud account you happen to be using — because the tools people use change far more often than the underlying organizing problem does.
What we are not
Everyday Archive is not a financial institution, a fintech product, a password manager, a cloud storage provider, or a security service. We do not store, back up, encrypt, or have any access to your files or documents. Our folder structure generator runs entirely in your own browser: nothing you enter is uploaded anywhere, and the suggestions it produces are a starting template, not a stored record. You can read the full detail in our privacy policy.
We also do not provide legal, tax, financial, or cybersecurity advice. Where a topic touches on any of those areas — such as document retention or backup practices — our guides describe general concepts and, where appropriate, point toward established public resources. For anything specific to your situation, we recommend speaking with a qualified professional or consulting an official source.
Who writes our content
Everyday Archive's guides are produced by the Everyday Archive Editorial Team and reviewed against our editorial policy before publication. You can find more detail on how we approach claims and sourcing on our sources and methodology page, and how we handle mistakes on our corrections page.
Who this site is for
We write for individuals, families, students, remote workers, and small home-based freelancers who want a calmer, more findable system for their files — not for people looking for enterprise document management, legal compliance software, or financial planning tools. If that is what you are after, this probably is not the right site, and we would rather tell you that plainly than pretend otherwise.
